Although it's been cold of late I really knew it was Christmas this month when I was asked to signwright some directional boards for a Santa Grotto at a village Christmas fayre. You can see the three boards along with a time lapse video of me painting one of the signs which I hope you will find interesting if you can spare the time to watch it. When I delivered the signs (just in time) the customer seemed very pleased with them lets hope Santa feels the same way! and all the children will now be able to find him and give him their present lists. I hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing Christmas I am looking forward to putting my brushes down and my feet up for a few days, it's been a long but very rewarding year. I can now spend a bit of time with my lovely wife Diana. Many thanks to all my customers over the last year please don't hesitate to call if you have any problems or just want some advise. it has been an absolute joy to work for you all...... And finally a Very Merry Christmas to you all.

This month between jobs I took the time out to repair and repaint my old signwrighting box which was in quite a state after many years of service. First I sanded down and primered the box before painting it in brown then painting white panels on and pinstriping the panels with a buff colour before signwriting my telephone number, web site and logo on one side. Then on the other side I painted on a cartoon to brighten the box up along with some cartoon characters on the top and two ends of the box. I Hope you think it looks ok, it certainly looks a lot cleaner than it did before. You can see it below. Also this month I had the honour of renewing one of Horncastle's most iconic signs. "The old Dispensary" sign which has hung on Church walk in the grounds of St Mary's Church for many many years. I along with many others had looked up at the old sign when passing through the church yard and also on several occasions whilst on one of the many history tours which are given in Horncastle during the year . The history tours which cover many subjects including ....."The Roman wall"..... "Trade in the Town" and everyones favourite "ghosts of the town". All stop under the sign to talk about both The Dispensary and the adjoining building... "The Old Workhouse" where they point out the two Blue plaques on the wall ( pictures of them are below) also below is the.... before and after pictures of the sign. I hope you agree it is a slight improvement. The two plaques On church walkbefore. After |
