My luck was really in this month when I was chosen to do a sign at Lincoln University, Space Project Gallery. It was as you can see below a stunning location to work at and the project was very interesting and a total joy to be involved in. The signwriting which was 9 mtrs long and was painted on one of the main walkways to the restaurant so was passed by most of the students who were studying there before, during and after the signs construction. So there were as you can imagine lots and lots of comments all of which were positive and complementary... Lots of the students also stopped to ask many questions which was very nice and all the students seemed genuinely interested and some even shocked that people actually painted letters, "Didn`t they just peel off and stick on" one young lady asked in all innocence!! It wasn`t until I had packed up my brushes and returned home that I got thinking of the comment. It was then that I suddenly realised that most of these students had never before seen anyone painting letters by hand..... a bit like some of our children having not seen vinyl records or black and white TV``s. It was then that I suddenly began to feel old but at the same time proud..... to be keeping this wonderful old trade alive. Also this month I received a call from Walker & Walker Butchers who's Bike & canopy I had painted earlier in the year (you can see them below) asking me to paint their logo and border on a blackboard which was to go above their serving area ready for their Christmas trade. You can see both the logo and the finished board now up in the shop.
