The new shops in Woodhall Spa are finally beginning to open and one of them is a new barber shop which is doing rather well. I had the job of painting the main sign on the front of the shop along with the two barbers poles on the side panels and also the vynal on the front windows. It was a hot Saturday when I went to paint the shop. I enjoyed my morning in the sun and was very pleased with the many comments that I received during the day from passers by. I also got four new job enquries. Which are always welcome. Below you can see a couple of photos of the shop. I was also lucky enough to get the job of signwriting the shop next door which is a bridal wear & accessories shop called "The Ivory Room". and if the amount of interest I got from passers by asking about the shop is anything to go by then it's going to be very busy. Victoria the lady who's shop it is was a real pleasure to work for and she is looking forward to opening the shop in early April. You can see the shop below. You may remember earlier in the year I painted a banner for a 99 year old lady which at the time was my oldest aged banner i had done. It was a record i was hoping to beat this year when the lady reached 100 however sadly she passed away soon after her 99th birthday lunch which she enjoyed very much . She had a wonderful life but will be sadly missed by all who knew her myself included. However this week I got the call to do a banner for a gentleman who was celebrating his 100th birthday. Victor Bolton lives in one of the many residential homes in Woodhall Spa and was an engineer in the RAF. Victor joined in 1941 and spent three years in Egypt where he worked on the Sunderland flying boats. he retired in 1980 after a career as a solicitor. Victor received well over 100 cards including a really special one from the queen which you can see below. Victor was also honoured with a flyover by a spitfire. It really was a pleasure to be able to do victor's banner and be able to thank him in a very very small way for what he and his generation did for us..

This month I had the great pleasure of signwriting a Austin 35. The van which was in the colour county cream was owned by Ian Baumber of Sleaford. I spent about 10 hours on the van and I think Ian was pleased with the van when it was finished . He has since informed me that it has been in a photo shoot for a leading classics magazine so keep an eye out for that. Ian has promised to send a copy of the magazine when it comes out so I am looking forward to that and I will update this article when I recieve it. Ian also hopes to take the van round some of the local shows so if you see it about please let me know what you think. Below are a few of the photos taken of the finished van. I thank Ian for trusting me with his prize possession. I really do not take lightly the fact that someone has the faith to put their trust in me to put paint on their pride and joy and believe me I know how much these people think of their vehicles. For me It is hard to explain the pure joy i get from working on such vehicles there is a real atmosphere around them and it really is a buzz to know that your work has been appreciated and will be seen by many people and will hopefully be on the vehicle for many years to come. f you go down to the woods today beware where you park because you certainly can't park in the way at the Woodhall Spa bowls club any more as they now have some new "no parking" signs. Earlier in the year you may remember I painted their club sign which you can see below along with a picture of the "No Parking" signs. Lets hope the bowls team have a great season.
