This month I replaced the old "Croft Village Hall" sign which had been on the building for many years. As you can see below (left) it had probably seen it's best days. One bonus was that it did not take much work to get it down as it just fell away. ABOVE THE OLD & THE NEW SIGN FOR THE HALL Once the sign was up it looked good and certainly stood out on the village hall and everyone seemed pleased with the end result ...... you can see it in place above.

Birds were popular as two of the house signs I painted this month were bird themed. The first was a surprise birthday present for someone special at "The Manor" at West Ashby. I hope the birthday boy liked the sign and I know he is a big admirer of owls. See what you think below. The second one had the famous Beatrix Potter character Jemima Puddleduck on and was a joy to do. Whilst researching The character for a picture I was suprised to learn that the book was first published in 1908 and was the first one written by Beatrix from her newly aquired "Hill Top Farm" which she moved into in 1905. Although the book is over 110 years old it is still read and enjoyed by many generations and continues to be enjoyed by the children of today. You can see the sign above along with a picture of the creator of Jemima Puddleduck the wonderful Beatrix Potter I hope she would approve.
Christmas has certainly arrived this month as I got the pleasure of painting not just one shop but two shops windows ready for the winter displays. The first was a display of snow flakes for Sally at Horncastle's "First" clothing shop. The second shop was at "The Grapevine" Hair and beauty salon also in Horncastle. On this window I painted two Christmas trees and a rooftop scene which was a lot of fun. Art comes to TownTwo artists have opened a gallery for their work in Horncastle. I was tasked with the job of painting their shop signs which you can see below. Both the artists are very talented but very different, Anita loves painting portraits of both people and also animals and Uses pencil, graphite, pastal and charcoal for her work.
Erica, who is also a top photographer, uses mainly oils. It was great to be called back to the Bailgate at the top of Lincoln again this month to paint yet another wonderful shop. The shop in question was the well known family chemist of F.P. Watson who have traded in the premises for many, many years. It was especially nice to be at the top of Lincoln at Christmas time as the council were putting up all the Christmas trees on the shop walls creating a fantastic atmosphere in the city while everyone was going about their Christmas shopping. It was very cold the day I lettered the shop and I think it was definitely the start of Winter. Even though it was cold it was a real honour and well worth the discomfort to work on such an iconic shop. Lincoln Antiques Still going wellWatsons was not the only shop I did at the top of Lincoln this month as I got another call to do two more signs for the very successful Lincoln Antiques centre which is situated half way down Steep Hill. You can see them below. You may remember the signs I lettered for them earlier in the year below is a reminder of them.
I got a real suprise this month to see a 30' classic trailer I had lettered featured in one of the nations top specialist Lorry magazines. Yes while looking in my local news agents there on the shelf looking back at me was Novembers edition of "Heritage Commercial" with my trailer on the front cover!! What a thrill. Not only was it the lead story with full front page photo but it also had the centre spread poster!!! A real honour. You may remember I painted the trailer last year for Chris who had spent many days and months bringing it back from the brink. He had even made living quarters inside the trailer for when he attends the many classic vehicle shows up and down the country. Above is the front cover & centre spreadAbove is the full 6 page article and also some close up photos of mine from the day I painted the trailer.
