It was back to the Book Fayre this month to update one of the many shop fronts that surround the building . This time I put the Book Fayre website on the shop front as you can see it was a very hot day.

It was nice to get back to signwriting on a vintage vehicle this month and the one in question was a superbly restored farm trailer in Bicker. Above is the trailer as it was years ago before the wonderful restoration and below is the trailer as it is now complete with the signwriting. Above are both the back (left) and front (right) of the trailer after signwriting. Below you can see a close up of the lettering.
Boston Grammer School was my destination this month as I had the great privilege and pleasure of updating their honours headboy board and also their Parry Award winner. As you can see below the school although modern, is also very traditional. Their library is a truly wonderful room as you can see below and was a real joy to work in. The Parry board was started in 1875. It was nice to be involved in its history and be one of the many signwriters to have worked on it over the years. The library had some fantastic windows and it must be a real pleasure to be a pupil at the school.
It was yet another outside wall to paint this month. Wall art and signage seems to be really making a return, especially on pubs. This time the sign was 4'x5' in size and at Alford for the family business of Well Vale Butchers. It was a very enjoyable days painting with lots of people coming up to me to watch and talk about both the sign and also their memories of signwriters from years gone by. It was also the school holidays so there were lots of kids taking an interest too. Alford is a very friendly town and there were lots of nice comments with some people even coming back several times to see how the sign was progressing throughout the morning. One comment did make me chuckle as one person called me the street Picasso!! But probably the nicest comment of the day was from an old chap who came up just after I had finishied and said the sign looked as if it had been there 20 years which was the shop owners aim so very pleasing to hear. All in all a really enjoyable day. Above is the finished shop sign..... what do you think? Alford Manor is only one of the wonderful buildings in this super Town and working next door to it put extra pressure on.
Tanglewood nursing home in Horncastle have just opened a bar in their reception for both their residents and visiting families. My job was to make a sign for the bar along with some banners to put up in the town and outside the home. Above is the sign in place in the bar and below you can see it up close along with the two banners. The bar by all accounts has been a complete success and liked by visitors, residents and their familes. It was a great pleasure to be able help out.
Amongst the many house signs this month t was nice to get the chance to paint one on Slate which is a great surface. The sign in question was a house sign for "Gower Hall Farm"
What a fantastic shop I had the privilege to paint this month. The shop in question was "Laurence Shaw's Antiques" and it is a shop I have passed for many years and always wanted to tackle. Painting on brick work is never easy but on the whole things went well. Although I did have to stop twice as we had two heavy downpours but luckily they didn't last long and it was not long before the job was finished.
